Old Town Square Image Tour
(clockwise)
- Polychromatic
The buildings forming the Town Hall used to belong to the merchant Wolflin vom Stein, but
were purchased in 1338 by citizens of Prague to establish their Town Hall.
- Tower Town Hall (1364)
- St. Mikulas church
Construction of this baroque church was finished in 1735. The architect was Kilian Ignaz Deintzenhofer.
Because of the destroyed 19th century part of the Town Hall, the St. Mikulas is able to dominate this
part of the Old Town Square. It marks the beginning of Parizska Street.
- Golden house
- Palace/museum
- 'Charles' House
The upper floor consists of a large room which regularly houses concerts. The buildings behind it are
arranged around a court, which is quite surprising when one enters the building. In the spaces surrounding
the court are exhibitions. The floors are linked through a spacious winding stairs.
- Tưn cathedral
- Small alley facing Tưn cathedral
Although the towers of Tưn cathedral dominate the west side of the Old Town Square, the church itself
does not, since its mass is hidden behind other buildings. This introduces a layering effect not seen
on the other sides of the square.
- Town Hall and Jan Hus monument
- Houses
- Small alley close to Old Town Square
